Thursday

It was raining for 24 hours straight, all through Tuesday night and even a little into today. We had planned to move our campsite from East Forks Forest to the KOA in Eureka. Well, here I am in Motel 6 in Eureka writing this quip, We woke up early today and packed all our sopping wet items into Spencer's car and shove ourselves in around it all afterwards. We took twists and turns through the mountains for about two hours ( I always get carsick when the windows are up on roads like that and it was still raining) only to reach KOA and be told we couldn't check in until 2;00 pm. So we decided to head to the redwoods where there is a sweet little park nestled between hundreds of beautiful, massive trees. We chilled there for about 3 hours then headed into town and got chicken sandwiches at Carl's Jr's . We then headed to the beach where we walked along the shore for a long time. The sand here is so soft, and the periwinkles are the size of my fist !!! We saw a beached sea lion who had the numbers 893 burned in letters longer than my arm which made me cringe when I stood there looking at it with all the boys. They talked about it for a while kind of amazed and I wandered into the dunes and picked a lovely bouquet of flowers which I placed inside this huge seashell I found earlier along the shore. I walked over to the sea lion silently apologized for the way humanity had treated the world he lived in and laid the shell near him. On the way back to the KOA we passed some cows that had big brands AH burned into their butts, It made me feel bad. The lady at KOA wouldn't let us pay with cash even though we had done so before. So I called my mom and she payed for a motel room for us. I am so grateful for my family. I love my momma !! Also my dad sent me money a couple days ago to hold us over till I start work on Saturday, Thanks dad ! Love you. So far I have bought a lot of yummy food. Sunday night I made stuffed bell peppers. I first made the rice, beans, tomatoes, and onions. Second, I gutted the peppers and set their tops aside. I stuffed the rice and vegetables in the peppers with a huge glob of ricotta cheese in the middle. I then placed the tops back on them, wrapped them in aluminum foil, and through them in the fire ! They were absolutely delicious! The next day I made potatoes, onion, and tomatoes for breakfast. Everyone loved it ! We ate Mac N Cheese with fried tomato pita bread for lunch and Pita Pizza's for dinner ! The next day the old man in charge of watching over the campground stopped us on our way to the store for that nights dinner, he gave me a huge bag of apples. The apples were organic right off someones tree right down the road from the campgrounds, they were ugly as hell but damn were they sweet ! Yummy! I made sweet ginger chicken and sweet honey veggies with fried apple panini's ! It was so good ! That was Tuesday night; it started pouring after dinner and didn't stop until about 1;00 pm Thursday. Wednesday I chopped up the remaining apples and Veggie's. We dipped the apples in peanut butter and used the left over sweet sauce for the vegetables. On Wednesday we sat in the tent all day and played cards. We played cards for such a long time I dreamt of them that night when I fell asleep in our sopping wet tent. It rained so hard the tent started leaking a bit. Some of our stuff got wet but that's okay we are now having laundry done and we all are taking showers then snuggling into a bed (for the first time in a week)  tonight. Yay! I am super excited for the upcoming week ! I will be working and living on a farm in the mountains. I will have no service but I am told there is Wifi inside the main house so I will work on getting some use of that to write this blog.

Here I am

Im in California between Arcata and Eureka at a KOA campsite. Its got showers and laundry machines ! Pool tables, putt putt golf, and all sorts of other fun games ! So far I have played lifesize checkers and swung to my hearts content. Things are going so much better for me now ! Nick is such a good guy I could not have asked for a better road dog than him (: I miss my family and I love you all. I made delicious food for everyone last night and this morning. I did all our laundry and now we are set to have fun ! Im just going to post a bunch of pictures today I will write more soon.

Ive made it to California !!

The picture is from Utah . The trip has been long and stressful. I ate at jack in the box for the first time. I ate half a taco then threw it up instantly. I was pretty sick in the car for a few hours. It was awful. Nick took care of me though. I feel much better now !! Im at a motel six tonight. I have one dollar to my name (not counting the overwhelming amount of change jingling in my purse). I am happy and safe. Im sorry I have not written much lately ! I will try to stay on top of it !

I Didn't Click My Heels Three Times but Im in Kansas

Here we are in Kansas ! It is so windy ! The weather is so nice !! Sunny and breezy ! Im so thankful my mom and dad helped me pack my bags before I left. So far I have used just about everything they have given me ! I cant wait till we get to California so I can crack open the books that have been taunting me in my backpack since I started this journey! Ha ha Once again we are listening to comedians in the car , it really helps the time pass ! I love to laugh ! The bathroom signs in Kansas made me giggle quite a bit ! I had to take a picture for you guys ! (: I miss you all ! I hope this post makes you smile ! Im feeling much better than earlier ! I will write more later ! Love and Light ~ lauren

Day Two Continued

We are currently in Oklahoma, time is just dragging on . Im super hungry but we are not stopping till Colorado ! I have lots of snacks but they only do so much and I am already tired of crackers. Im sweaty and hot sitting in this tiny car. I am thinking about just napping the rest of the way. I am still so bummed about leaving Mr. Giraffe behind. Im sorry if this post makes you feel sorry for me ! Don't let it ! I am super excited to be going to California! This journey is proving to be more of a trial than anything I have done before. I feel lonely even though I am not alone. I miss my mom ! I wish that I could be sleeping in my bed right now but I know when I get to California I will be happy I came all this way. Day One and Day two of taveling

Welp, yesterday we drove through Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama. We are currently in Arkansas today. We stopped at hotel around 10:00 pm last night , ate Wendys , and watched a little Science Channel to unwind from the 900 miles we had traveled that day. We are on the road again, going places that ive never been. Ha Ha So far everything has been going really well ! I drove for three hours on the highway through Arkansas today ! First time I have ever really driven on the highway ! It was pretty scary driving someone elses car but I did really well all in all. I forgot my giraffe pillow pet at the hotel though ): I have had that thing for such a long time. My inner child is experiencing a little seperation anxiety but I figured I should just cut my losses and carry on ! Its not easy ! Im sorry I didnt post last night , I also broke my charger off in my computer yesterday ! Just my luck. All is well now though i have safely removed the bits from my computer and I already have replaced my charger. We just stopped and had breakfast at McDonalds. I had a chicken biscuit and a sprite. I feel much more awake ! We have been listening to classic rock and comedians the whole trip up here ! Its pretty great ! We have been playing this game where when a song comes on the first one to name the artist or band gets a point. Nicks in the lead and I am lowest on the score board. (Mostly because the boys all yell over one another making it impossible to get a word out.) I am having alot fun but I miss my family and friends so much already. I have to be strong ! R.I.P Giraffe the pillow pet I hope you dont get thrown away and I love you im sorry I forgot you. I miss you already. Love and Light -

Trip Postponed until Tmrw

Theres not much to say except that we are waiting to leave until tomorrow due to set backs in packing and poor planning. Well we are all packed and ready to go for tmrw ! The Night Before Departure

Today is the day before I leave for California ... 

I packed all my things and moved my bags near the door with this trip looming in my distance, sleeping tonight doesn't seem like an option. Excitement has filled my day, along with a nervous queasy feeling. Tomorrow I will begin my journey away from home. This will be the first time I have left home for such a long period of time. This trip is for ME . Baby Bird needs to leave the nest. Don't you think so? Time since the day I graduated high school has become stagnant and poorly used. I am ready to see a place I have never been before ! I am keeping this blog only for the soft reminder to my family that I am okay and still alive out there somewhere. The days preceding my departure my family and friends took it upon themselves to take care of me and prepare me fully for my theoretical flight from the "Nest". I have absolutely everything I could want or ask for today, but I still feel absolutely crazy about what will ensue in the days to come. Have you ever had the feeling like you're over prepared for something but you can't find it in your own heart to re-pack in fear of leaving something out that was already there ? What if you take it out before hand thinking "when will I ever use this ?" then bang you're stuck on the side of the road hungry and you really wish you had brought that extra bag of Beef Jerky. So therefor I have decided to stuff all of my bags till I have to sit on them to zip them up, their seams almost screaming in agony for me to cease their pain even if its only to leave out the protein I may so crave on this metaphorical 'side of the road'. I am ready for my life to change , or at least my personal outlook on life to change. Right now as I eat my last meal (My mom cooked meat loaf, mash potatoes, corn, and Lima Beans. ITS DELICIOUS!!) I am looking forward to going to school in January and returning to see all my friends and family.
